Admissions

Each year REACH! will accept approximately 100 students entering 6th grade, 100 entering 9th grade. Additionally, if space permits, a few students will be considered for admittance into grades 7, 8, and 10.  The REACH curriculum does not allow for the admittance of students beyond 10th grade.

The basic Selection criteria for admission to REACH is a desire by parent and student to REACH for higher achievement and agreement to conform to the REACH calendar and school policies.

Believing that desire and willingness to put forth effort are the most important indicators of future success, REACH accepts all applicants on a first apply, first accepted basis, unless the number of applicants exceeds capacity. When that happens all applicants are placed in a lottery, from which applicants are randomly drawn until all spaces are full.  (Every effort is made to accommodate the brothers and sisters of students who have been admitted.)

Once the closing date for applications has passed REACH will maintain, and draw from, a waiting list until September 30, 2010.

  • Students are admitted without regard to race, sex, religion, national origin, or other prohibited discriminatory factors.
  • If the number of applications received exceeds the number of spaces available we will resort to a lottery to select those admitted.
  • For students living within the city of Baltimore admission is free.
  • Students living outside Baltimore City will be admitted, if space is available, but there will be a tuition charge set by the City School System.
