Why Teach at REACH! Partnership?

Personalized environment -- a small school with only 500 students this coming year and maximum capacity of 600 students at full enrollment. The school climate is caring and supportive – one where every student and every staff member counts. Students are not involuntarily assigned to the school. Students, from across Baltimore City, apply to attend REACH! Partnership. The staff and student body are diverse.

Focus on learning -- teaching and learning are kept central. There are high expectations for student performance and behavior. Quality teaching is prized.

Creativity and innovation
-- teachers are encouraged to bring their talents and expertise to instruction. There is always room for good ideas and promising practices. At REACH! Partnership, youth and energy are valued, as are wisdom and experience.

Ground floor opportunity
-- a new school, first opening its doors to students in 2008 with about 130 students. The school will expand each year through 2011. As REACH! develops, staff members influence and help shape school programs – from curriculum to school organization to professional development.

Support for learning -- smaller class size and AmeriCorps workers who serve as Advocates to students, providing academic and personal support – from tutoring to follow-up – working together with teachers to reinforce skills and provide students with the support that they need to be successful.

Professional growth
-- is considered essential for teacher and student success. The school schedule provides a half day each week and full days throughout the year -- for teachers to hone skills, work together and be a real learning community.  Professional development supports teachers’ needs, individually, within curriculum content areas, and as a collective school team.

Be a leader, be a part of a teamschool administration encourages teaming and staff leadership. The work environment demands quality, yet is flexible, responsive, and engaging. Staff members are eager, enthusiastic, and involved and know firsthand the power in working together

Resource rich environment
-- students and staff have many opportunities not available in traditional urban schools – field trips, special programs, exposure to the Arts, small class sizes, and daily support from trained AmeriCorps members. This is because REACH! is more than a partnership in name. Committed business and university partners provide significant in-kind and monetary support that enriches both the teaching and the learning experience.

REACH! Partnership is a school with purpose -- simultaneously preparing students for college entry and career pathways in the high demand fields of health care and construction. Graduates leave REACH! motivated and possessing academic credentials for post-secondary education and poised for or holding industry-recognized trade/professional certifications.

REACH Partnership is a place where you can teach, grow, be appreciated, and make a difference!
